Don Hankey

Founder, Hankey Group

Head of the Hankey Group of Companies, a privately-held organization based in Los Angeles, Mr. Hankey has led the organization in consistently strong growth and diversification in the automotive, finance, real estate, technology, and insurance sectors. Mr. Hankey’s banking and finance acumen and relationships have enabled the Group to organically grow to an excess of $1 Billion in assets in 2007. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Mr. Hankey was the youngest vice-president at a major investment banking firm that would later be bought by USB Paine Webber.

Bret Hankey

CEO of Midway

Bret Hankey serves as the President of the Hankey Group and is a member of the board of directors on all the major companies that comprise the Hankey Group. Bret’s main focus is to continue to grow the companies by 20% year over year and maintain a 30% ROE. Bret Hankey is the Vice Chairman and Executive VP of Westlake Financial Services and is responsible for overseeing the originations of subprime, near-prime and prime automotive retail installment contracts.

Mr. Hankey graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) in 2000 with a B.S. in Business Administration and Finance with an emphasis in Real Estate. He later went on to complete the General Dealership Management program from the National Automobile Dealers Association in 2005 in McLean, VA. Upon his graduation from USC, he joined the Hankey Group and began his career in the automotive industry.

Bret Hankey has more than 14 years of experience working in car dealerships and in the auto finance industry. During his tenure in the car business, he held roles in various positions including Salesperson, Used Car Manager, General Sales Manager and General Manager. From 2007 to Present, Bret Hankey has held multiple positions throughout Westlake Financial including Credit Analyst, Originations Manager, VP Originations, VP of Westlake Financial, Vice Chairman & EVP. He currently serves as the President of the Hankey Group.

Bret Hankey’s purpose for joining the Hankey Group is to continue the growth of the companies and to maintain profit margins. He believes this will be accomplished by a continued focus on the culture, people, technology, efficiencies and operating costs.

Gary Kolodziej

Vice President of Sales

Gary Kolodziej serves as the President of Midway Auto Group, which oversees Midway Car Rental, Midway Leasing, and Midway Group.

Mr. Kolodziej joined Midway in 2020 with over two decades of experience at Enterprise Rent-A-Car which included several senior leadership roles including Regional Vice President, Corporate Assistant Vice President of Operations, and Fleet Strategist. Over the course of his career, Gary has gained extensive experience in various roles across multiple states and markets, providing him a comprehensive understanding of the industry. His strategic leadership has been instrumental in driving Midway’s growth and success.

Gary holds a degree in Finance from California State University, Northridge, and possesses a wealth of expertise in fleet analytics, financial strategy, and operations management within the automotive rental, leasing, and services industries.

Dave Gomez

Chief Financial Officer

Dave Gomez serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Midway Auto Group. Dave brings 15 years of rental car experience from throughout Southern California. He is joining the Midway team from his most recent position as Controller at Anheuser-Busch InBev in Van Nuys, California. Dave earned a B.A. in Political Science from UCLA and an MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business.

Sean Perez

General Manager

Born and raised in Southern California, Sean brings all aspects of the car rental industry including Exotics, Airport, and Home City experience to the Midway Auto Group as the General Manager. Sean has 19 years of car rental experience with demonstrated success in sales, marketing, and new business development.

Caroline Kim

Director of Loss Control and Special Projects

Caroline can be handling a construction project from the opening of a new office one day and chasing down a missing car the next. And that’s just the way she likes it – always facing new challenges! When she’s away from the office, Caroline enjoys finding amazing places to dine in the city when her Executive Chef husband wants a night off. She also loves spending time with her puppy. She has been with Midway for over 15 years.

Denise Gonzalez

VIP Reservation Director

Denise Gonzalez manages Midway Car Rental’s VIP Reservations Team. She has been with Midway since 2005, working alongside her mentor Ken Kerzner, Midway’s Managing Partner. Denise brings 25 years of experience in the car rental industry, working directly with exclusive clients to fulfill their transportation needs. She mentors a dynamic group of skilled reservationists specializing in assisting travel advisors, corporate accounts, commercial production companies, concierges and more. When out of the office Denise enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends and her Pug, Charlie.

Kelly Marzo

Human Resource Manager

Kelly Marzo serves as the HR Manager of Midway overseeing, HR, Recruiting, and Training for all employees.  Kelly has 23 years of experience from Enterprise Rent-A-Car.  She was the Area Manager of their largest branch in the company and later moved to the Human Resources Dept. where she supervised employees for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental, and Alamo Rent A Car.  She has extensive experience in Employee Relations for union and non-unionized employees.

Kelly is an alumna of Cal State Long Beach and earned a BA in Liberal Studies, emphasis in Literature.  She’s been married to her husband of 24 years and together, they have two 2 legged children and two 4 legged children.  Kelly is especially proud of her ability to balance work and family.

Ken kerzner

Partner Emeritus

Ken Kerzner is a shareholder and Managing Partner for Midway Car Rental and Wilshire Limousine Services. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitors Bureau and Rotary.

Mr. Kerzner started his career in 1969 at South West Leasing & Car Rental and moved to Budget Rent A Car of Beverly Hills in 1989. He served as President of both companies during his tenure.

Ken currently resides in Sherman Oaks with his wife Fran.
