General Questions

Midway Policies

  • All vehicles are non-smoking (cleaning fees may apply).
  • Towing is not permitted.
  • Vehicles permitted only within CA and NV.
  • Driver’s licenses issued outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by a valid international driver’s license.
  • International driver’s license may be asked to provide additional documentation: examples of this may include a valid passport and a valid Mexican Voter ID card.
  • Luxury and Exotic rentals may have additional coverage requirements. Please contact your local office for details.
  • LAX offers unlimited miles for non southern California residents. All other customers will receive 150 miles free per day, 1050 miles free per week. Additional miles at $0.50/mile.
  • If you experience a delay for any reason, please call the office.
  • Reservations are held for 24 hours subject to vehicle availability.

Extending Your Rental
To extend your rental beyond the due date shown on your contract, please call your renting office. Please note that the extension must be approved, and the rate is subject to change.

Midway Car Rental can provide vehicles with hand controls with 24 hour advanced notice.

No Show Policy
Reservations are valid and honored for up to 24 hours after the requested pick-up time subject to car availability or until the location’s regular closing time, whichever is earlier. Please contact Midway Car Rental if you need to change your vehicle pick-up time.

One-Way Rentals
Please call us directly for one-way rental availability, pricing, locations, and details.

Visiting Mexico
Midway Car Rental vehicles are not permitted to enter Mexico under any circumstances.

Airport

  • Valid Driver’s License issued by a government agency.
  • VISA/Mastercard Debit Card issued by a domestic bank or financial institution.
  • Name on Driver’s License and Debit Card must match.
  • Valid 2nd form of photo ID
  • Must present original round trip flight information subject to verification.
  • $300.00 credit card deposit or a $500.00 debit card deposit, plus the total of all rental charges.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • $20.00 underage fee for under 25 years of age

  • Proof of residency may be required.


 Non-airport

  • Valid Driver’s License issued by a government agency.

Payment Options if you are Flying In

A major credit card from a traditional banking institution: No Debit Cards, Digital Pay, Secured Credit Cards, Chime Cards or Apple Cards accepted. Credit card must have functioning chip.

  • Driver license and credit card (names must match)
  • Minimum $300 deposit above expected rental charge; deposits will increase in relation to the vehicle being rented
  • At some locations, customers not holding a US driver’s license may be asked to provide additional documentation. Examples of this may include a valid passport and a valid Mexican voter registration card.
  • Round trip itinerary showing return flight from Los Angeles to home city, booked at least 24 hours in advance.

Requirements if you are a Southern California Resident

Delayed Arrival

  • If you will be delayed for any reason, please call the office. Certain cars are subject to cancellation fees if not canceled 48 hours in advance.
  • Reservations are held for 3 hours. Please call if pick up time needs to be postponed

Extending Your Rental

  • To extend your rental beyond the due date shown on your contract, please call your renting office. Please note that the extension must be approved, and the rate is subject to change.

No Show Policy

  • Reservations are valid and honored for up to three hours after the requested pick-up time or until the location’s regular closing time, whichever is earlier. If the vehicle is not picked up within three hours of the requested pick-up time your reservation status will be changed to a NO SHOW. To avoid any problems, please contact Midway Car Rental if you need to change your vehicle pick-up time.

One-Way Rentals

Unlimited Mileage

  • Unlimited mileage applies only to miles driven in the states of CA and NV.
  • If you are a Southern California resident, NO UNLIMITED MILEAGE. 150 miles free per day, 1050 miles free per week. Additional miles at $0.50/mile

  • Midway Car Rental vehicles are not permitted to enter Mexico under any circumstances.

What are your renter requirements?

To rent a car from Midway Car Rental, you will need the following:

  • To be 25 years old (if you’re under 25, you may be required to pay a young driver’s fee, which varies by rental location)
  • A valid driver’s license with a photo
  • A photo ID (For example: a driver’s license or passport)
  • Credit or debit card (check the acceptable forms of payment at the location you’re renting from)

Can I rent a car under 21?

No. The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21 years of age. If you are between the ages of 21 and 24, a young renter fee may be applied to your rental. Renters 21 through 24 years of age may also be restricted to specific car classes. (See exceptions below.)
If you wish to know the cost of the ‘Young Renter Fee’ you may begin the reservation process to determine the exact amount of the fee for the rental location. You will have the option to confirm or cancel the reservation.

What forms of payment are accepted for renting a car?

Credit Cards
Credit cards are accepted at airport and non-airport locations in the US

  • VISA®
  • MasterCard®
  • American Express®
  • Discover Network®
  • JCB (Japan Credit Bureau)

Debit/Check Cards
Debit/check cards are any non-credit cards bearing the VISA®, Mastercard® or Discover® logo. Prepaid cards or any other non-credit cards without one of these logos are not accepted.
 
At airport locations, debit cards are only accepted at the time of rental if accompanied by a ticketed return travel itinerary. The name and address shown on the renter’s driver’s license must match their current home address. Active-duty military personnel are exempt from address requirements. Other than the Renter’s spouse or domestic partner, no other additional drivers are allowed.  If using a debit card for any amounts owed, the available funds in the account associated with Renter’s debit card will be reduced by those amounts.  Additionally, Renter is responsible for any overdraft fees incurred.

Gift cards
Gift Cards are not accepted.

Cash
For security reasons, Midway Car Rental branches do not accept cash payments. We apologize for any inconvenience.

What are your driver license requirements for renting?

Customers must present a valid, unexpired government-issued driver’s license which includes a photograph of the customer. Digital licenses are not accepted. The driver’s license must be valid for the entire rental period.

Members of the United States Armed Forces who are on active duty may present an expired home state license under the following conditions:

  • They present an Active Military ID.
  • They are in compliance with their military extension policy of the state which issued the license.

International renters traveling to the United States
It is important that customers check with the appropriate Department of Motor Vehicles in the States or Provinces in which they intend to travel to ensure compliance with their various licensing laws. The following practices are used to ensure the customer is presenting a facially valid license at the time of rental.
Customers traveling to the United States from another country must present the following:

  • Their home country driver’s license that is valid, unexpired and includes a photograph. Digital licenses are not accepted
  • If the home country driver’s license is in a language other than English and the letters are English (i.e. German, Spanish, etc.) an International Driver’s Permit is recommended, but not required, for translation purposes in addition to the home country driver’s license.
  • If the home country driver’s license is in a language other than English and the letters are not English (i.e. alphabet is not an extended Latin-based alphabet like German or Spanish but is Russian, Japanese, Arabic, etc.) an International Driver’s Permit is required.
  • If an International Driver’s Permit cannot be obtained in the home country, another professional, type-written translation may be substituted. In either case, the home country driver’s license must also be presented.
  • Customers may not rent a vehicle solely with the International Driver’s Permit. The International Driver’s Permit is a translation of the individual’s home country driver’s license and is not considered a license nor is it considered valid identification.
  • Customers may be asked to provide additional valid government-issued documentation such as a unexpired passport.

Please Note:

  • Photocopies of driver’s licenses are not accepted
  • Learner’s Permits are not accepted
  • Any license which, on its face, restricts the licensee to the use and operation of a vehicle equipped with a form of a breathalyzer apparatus is not accepted
  • Temporary driver’s licenses may be refused if the renting location is unable to otherwise verify the customer’s identity or verify the authenticity of the temporary license. Additional government-issued identification may be required

What are your age requirements for renting?

The minimum age to rent a vehicle with Midway Car Rental is 21. Any U.S. government employee can rent at 18 years of age but must show the rental location his or her official orders. Learn more about Government Rentals.

Young Driver Fees

All renters under 25 will be required to pay a “young renter fee.” The average cost is approximately $20.00 per day but can be higher or lower based on the rental location. Start a reservation to determine how much your fee will cost.

What Do I Need to Rent a Car Under 25?

Here are some of the things you’ll need to rent a car from Midway Car Rental if you’re under 25:

  • To be at least 21 years old
  • A valid driver’s license with a photo
  • A valid debit or credit card. Some Midway Car Rental locations may require a credit card.

Renters 21 through 24 years of age may be restricted to specific car classes. Please see exceptions below.

Car Rental Options for Under 25

At most locations, young renters between the ages of 21-24 may rent the following vehicle classes: Economy cars, Compact cars, Intermediate cars, Standard cars and  Full Size cars; Cargo vans and Minivans; Pickup Trucks; and Compact SUVs, Small SUVs and Standard SUVs with seating up to 5 passengers.

Is a car rental deposit required?

Yes, a deposit is required to rent a car from Midway Car Rental. The deposit amount varies by location. To find out how much a deposit would be for your trip, start a reservation below. The cost of the deposit will be stated under the Renter Requirements section.

Can I add an additional driver to my rental?

Any additional driver (excluding a spouse or domestic partner) will pay a daily fee. Renter’s spouse or domestic partner who meet the same age and driver’s license requirements of the renter are authorized drivers at no additional charge. Any additional authorized drivers must appear at time of rental and meet age and driver’s license requirements.

An additional charge of $15.00 per day for each additional authorized driver will be added to the cost of the rental, unless other contractual conditions apply.

A spouse or domestic partner is the only permitted additional driver on a rental secured with a debit card

Fees are also waived for the following:

  • Corporate Contracts in the United States are allowed the following additional drivers at no charge:
    • Commercial (corporate) rentals
    • The renter’s business partner
    • Employer or fellow associate

All other additional authorized driver situations are subject to a daily charge.

An additional driver may only be added to the contract at a rental location and may be added or removed in the middle of the contract. When adding an additional driver in the middle of the contract both the renter and the additional driver must be present at the location.

The system will calculate the charges based on the dates the additional driver was listed on the rental.

All additional drivers must:

  • Meet age requirements
  • Appear at the rental counter with the primary renter
  • Present a valid driver’s license

An additional daily fee may apply for any additional drivers listed on the rental agreement.

If I’m a person with a disability and do not have a driver’s license, can I rent a car from Enterprise?

Yes! If due to a disability you do not have a valid driver’s license, you may still rent a car when accompanied by a surrogate driver who presents a valid driver’s license. Minimum age restrictions and other normal rental qualifications apply, but there is no additional charge for the surrogate driver and the surrogate driver need not produce a credit card or otherwise be required to meet our financial underwriting requirements.

How do I change or cancel my reservation?

If you have already picked up your vehicle:
If you have already picked up your vehicle and wish to keep it longer; you must contact the location where you picked up the vehicle.

Will I be charged if I cancel my reservation?
If you did not prepay for your reservation, there will not be a cancellation fee.
If you prepaid for your vehicle, the following conditions will apply:

• If you cancel your booking more than 1 day (24 Hours) before your specified pick-up time, you will receive a full refund minus a cancellation fee of USD $50.
• If you cancel your booking less than 1 day (24 Hours) before your specified pick-up time, you will receive a full refund minus a cancellation fee of USD $100.

Will I be charged if I don’t show up for my reservation?

If you fail to pick up your prepaid rental on the specified pick-up date, you will receive a full refund minus a no show fee of USD $100.

Will my rate change if I modify my reservation?

Possibly – rental rates can change on a daily basis so changing the dates or number of days may change the daily rate.

Reservations booked on a third party website must be canceled through the third party website. Reservations agents cannot change reservations booked on these websites nor can you cancel them on the Enteprise.com website. Please return to the website where you originally booked the reservation.

I just had an accident and I need a car while my vehicle is being repaired. What do I do?

If you have rental reimbursement coverage through your insurance provider, your policy may cover rental costs while your vehicle is in the shop. Reach out to your agent or the insurance claims department for details.

Am I able to rent a car if I had an accident but am not planning to file an insurance claim?

Yes. We are able to offer you our lower insurance rates if you have documentation that you had an accident, are insured, and are not filing a claim. You would be able to take advantage of these lower rates. Normal rental qualifications will apply. 

Will I need a deposit?

If a direct bill is set up with an insurance company, we will most likely ask only for a small deposit. Check with the Midway Car Rental location you are renting from for details. If there is no direct billing set up through your insurance company, we will require a full deposit of $300 (average).

Can I rent a car if I am under the age of 25?

Yes, you may rent if you are between the ages of 21-24, but additional restrictions apply.

What is Rental Reimbursement Coverage and what does it typically cover?

Rental reimbursement coverage will help you pay for a rental car as part of a covered auto insurance claim. Refer to your own auto insurance policy for details on your coverage. 

What does Rental Reimbursement typically not cover?

Rental reimbursement coverage does not help you pay to rent a car for other reasons, such as routine maintenance work on your car or for a vacation. Policies vary by insurance company and state. Refer to your own auto insurance agent for details on your coverage. 

Do you have luxury cars available?

Yes. We offer luxury and exotic vehicles

Can I rent a different vehicle class than I reserved?

Yes, if you would like to rent a vehicle in a higher class than reserved, check with the Midway Car Rental location on availability and cost to upgrade. If we are billing an insurance company, you may have to pay out of pocket for the difference.

What if my flight is delayed? – Airport Rental Locations

Airport Rental Locations:
• Reservations are valid for 24 hours from the scheduled time of pick-up for delayed flights and charges will not begin until the time of pick-up.

When booking your reservation on-line or with an agent include your airline and flight information. Providing us with your flight information allows us to serve you better.

Can I return my rental vehicle if the Midway Car Rental location is closed?

Airport locations

  • Will allow returns after hours and will have procedures in place for your early or late return. Please check with the rental location when picking up your rental vehicle for exact procedure.
  • Please Note: Vehicles should be returned to the same location where picked up unless prior arrangements have been made with the original renting location.
  • If you drop off your rental vehicle at the airport but did not originally pick up your vehicle at the airport, an additional drop fee may be charged.

Non-airport locations

  • Require that their rental vehicles be returned during normal business hours. Please check with your branch about Sunday hours.
  • If you want to return a vehicle when the branch is closed you must check with them when picking up your vehicle to determine if an “after hours” service drop box is available. Doing so will help you avoid additional charges
  • Please Note: A vehicle that is returned after hours will not be checked in until the next business day. If returning after hours when a branch is closed, the customer is responsible for the vehicle until the satisfactory check in of the rental vehicle the next business day.

I would like to keep my rental vehicle for a few days longer; is that possible?

Yes! In order to get you in the right direction and to make sure your rental is extended correctly, please refer to your rental location.
 
Extending Car Rental at an Airport Branch

  • At this time, the only way to extend your rental is to call us.
  • When extending a rental, the branch will need to place an additional authorization on your credit or debit card.
  • Your rates are subject to change based on the length of your rental extension. Usually the longer you keep the vehicle, the better deal you’ll receive because you can then take advantage of our weekly and monthly rates.

Extending Car Rental at a Non-Airport Branch

For non-airport reservations please contact the renting location directly. The phone number for the location can be found at the top of your rental contract. If the office is closed, please call back the next business day.
Please note:

  • At this time, the only way to extend your rental is to call us.
  • When extending a rental, the branch will need to place an additional authorization on your credit or debit card.
  • Your rates are subject to change based on the length of your rental extension. Usually the longer you keep the vehicle, the better deal you’ll receive because you can then take advantage of our weekly and monthly rates.

Do you accept Cash or Money Orders?

No, we do not accept cash or money orders at this time.

I want to return my car early, is there a penalty to do so?

We do not charge customers more for returning a car early, and you will only be charged for the days you had the vehicle (excluding prepaid reservations). If the location is closed when you try to return the vehicle or you are trying to return the vehicle to a different location, the following policy will apply:

Will there be an additional charge if I am late returning the rental vehicle?

If the vehicle is returned within 2 hours of the time it was rented on a subsequent day, additional hourly charges will apply. Hourly charges for your location and rental can be found on your rental contract.

If you return the vehicle 2 hours or more from the time it was rented on a subsequent day, you will be charged for an additional day of rental.

Please Note: A vehicle that is returned after hours will not be checked in until the next business day. If returning after hours when a branch is closed, the customer is responsible for the vehicle until the satisfactory check in of the rental vehicle the next business day.

Do I need to refuel the vehicle before returning? Can I pre-pay for fuel?

As a customer, you have a choice as to how you would like to pay for fuel.
 
Fuel Policy at Non Airport locations:

  • Customers may refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level upon picking up the vehicle.
  • If a customer chooses not to refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level, they will be charged the local Midway Car Rental rate which is typically above the local pump price.
  • A full tank of gas is not guaranteed.

Fuel Policy at Airport Car Rental Locations:

  • You may refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level you received when you picked up the vehicle, or if you choose not to refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level, you will be charged the local Midway Car Rental rate which is typically above the local pump price.

What is your pet policy?

Pets are allowed in rental vehicles. Customers need to keep pets crated and return their rental car in clean condition and free of pet hair to avoid cleaning/detailing fees. Service animals used by customers with disabilities are allowed in the vehicle without a carrier.

What is a car rental drop charge?

A drop charge is a fee for picking up a rental car at one location and returning it to a different location. The rental car drop fee varies depending on location and time of year. If you have to pay a drop charge, it will be disclosed at the time of reservation.        

How much is a rental car deposit?

A car rental deposit is required in order to rent a car from Midway Car Rental, but the amount varies.  Contact the rental location for specific deposit requirements. 

What should I do if I get in an accident in a rental car?

If you are in an accident, your safety is most important. Please call 911 or the local authorities for assistance and file a police report. To submit information regarding your accident and related details, please download and complete the Accident/Incident Report, and fax it to (323) 954-5273, or email it to [email protected].

What is Midway Car Rental’s damage policy?

Vehicle condition is photo documented prior to each rental, and again upon return.  Any damage or change of condition will be the responsibility of the renter.  Your personal auto insurance may or may not cover the cost of repairs, resulting in an out-of-pocket expense. It is best to contact your insurance provider before renting a car. 

What should I do if my rental car breaks down?

If your rental car breaks down due to a mechanical failure and it is not drivable, be sure to get to a safe place out of traffic. Then, call Roadside Assistance at
( 800 ) 414-0422 and they will help you with the towing process.

Is there an Midway Car Rental app?

Yes, there is an Midway Car Rental app available for free download in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for iOS and Android users. In addition to reservations the App provides access to several additional services. Download the app.
